Residential counselors provide support to individuals which allows them to live independently in their home. Services are specialized to the individual's needs and abilities and therefore, services vary from individual to individual.
The following supports or combination of services are provided in the home or community setting: monitoring activities of daily living such as shopping, budgeting, menu planning, scheduling activities, housekeeping, laundry, etc.; monitoring of self-care skills; monitoring medical needs and assisting with establishing medical appointments; encouraging community and recreational involvement, and ensuring individuals are living safely within the community.
